What causes melasma?
1. Hormones: It is more common in women than
in men. The estrogen & progesterone hormones may be involved in triggering melasma & causing the development of dark, discolored skin.
2. Genetics: Certain people are more susceptible to it than others. It tends to run in families & is more common in people with darker skin tones.
3. Pregnancy: It is most common during pregnancy, potentially because of higher estrogen & progesterone levels.
4. Sun Exposure: In addition to hormonal factors, scientists believe that melasma can be triggered by UV exposure.
💧 Since MELASMA is hormonal, topical treatments take a long time to work on.
